I ordered a pair of custom shades using an ikat silk sari my husband bought on a business trip to India. A lamp shop in my city could not work with the fabric. Not only did Lux Lampshades craft professional shades from my sari, they delivered them quicker than promised in time for my return from a safari vacation. I felt it was my birthday all over again! Thank you. The only thing I'd improve is communication after I place the order. I would have liked some acknowledgement that the order was placed and a specialist would be following up with me to confirm the details of my order.

A lot of companies do not offer the level of customization that Lux does- it was great having so many options of fabrics, sizes, trims, etc.
As our first time using this company, we felt as though there were some things in the process that could have made it a better experience. We picked a patterned fabric with a solid velvet trim for our client's foyer. After they were completed and we picked them up, the pattern didn't look quite right to us. Following up, the shape of the shade that we chose doesn't lend to the fabric pattern laying straight once sewn. Whether or not this is "obvious", as the experts, it could have been communicated with us that the fabric wouldn't be straight before going ahead and sewing- it's detail that makes a big difference for the price of these custom shades.
Also, a part of the process that seems vague is post ordering- there's not a lot of clear communication once the order is placed up to it being completed and shipped/picked up. There's a lot of follow up involved.

We are fortunate to work with consumers and design firms and we are always willing to share our opinions about design choices when asked. Once a design specification is provided by a design firm, our main goal is to deliver the products as specified.
We do offer a lot of customization and we understand that questions arise during the pre and post order process. In this case, we had an in-person meeting to discuss the order in advance. After the order was placed, we received and accommodated your design changes to switch from a box pleat to a non pleated softback shade. We received a total of 26 emails related to these custom shades and we did our best to provide clear communication throughout the process.
